Mining · energy use

Mining electricity starts with the whole system

A component power number is not the power bill. Use a wall measurement, operating time, cooling and the real tariff.

Power

The instantaneous draw of the system in watts or kilowatts.

1,000 W = 1 KW

Energy

Power accumulated over operating time.

KW × HOURS = KWH

Cost

Consumed energy multiplied by the applicable tariff.

KWH × TARIFF

The basic electricity calculation

A 1,000-watt system running for 24 hours uses 24 kWh per day. At a tariff of 0.10 per kWh, direct electricity cost is 2.40 per day.

Use measured average power after warm-up. Software telemetry may omit power-supply losses, the motherboard, fans, pumps and networking.

Daily kWh = system watts ÷ 1,000 × operating hours
Daily cost = daily kWh × tariff

Cooling and climate

Nearly all electrical energy used by computing equipment becomes heat. Ventilation, pumps or air conditioning can add material consumption.

If cooling is already included in the measured circuit, do not count it twice. If it is separate, add it explicitly.

Time-of-use and tiered tariffs

Calculate every tariff window separately. A tiered tariff can move the whole property into a more expensive bracket, so verify the provider's rules rather than copying one value from a bill.

Daily cost = Σ (kW × hours in tariff window × tariff)

Uptime and hidden energy costs

Use actual operating hours, not an automatic 24/7 assumption. Downtime reduces revenue while some infrastructure may continue consuming power.

Keep cooling, repair, connectivity and rent separate so the same expense is not counted twice.

Electrical safety is not an SEO formula

Continuous load requires suitable wiring, protection, connectors, phase distribution, ventilation and fire safety. An economic page cannot certify an installation.

If you cannot verify continuous-load limits and local electrical rules, use a qualified electrician. Do not operate a circuit at its assumed maximum.
